Balinese Ethnic

The Balinese ethnic group was the ethnic group that lived in the Balinese island, used Balinese and followed the Balinese culture. Most Balinese ethnic groups were religious Hindu, approximately 90%. Whereas the rest of them were religious Buddha, Islam and Christian.
There were approximately 5 million Balinese. Most they lived in the Balinese island, but they were also spread all over Indonesia.

The spreading of Balinese has outside Bali happened since ancient the time. For example, during 1673, when the inhabitants of the Batavia city numbering 27,086 souls have been met by 981 Balinese. As for the other composition of nations in the period was as along with: 2,740 Dutch and Indo, 5,362 people Mardijker, 2,747 people Tionghoa, 1,339 Javanese and Moor (India), and 611 people withered. These free inhabitants were increased with 13,278 people of the slave (49 percent) from various ethnic groups and the nation (was like this Lekkerkerker). Most Balinese were in Batavia brought in as the diamond slave.

One of the tracks of the influence of the Balinese nation in Betawi culture was art of puppets. The giant's doll came from art of Barong Landung Bali. Suffix-in in the Betawi language, for example in words: mainin, nambahin, panjatin, dll., that afterwards also was adopted as the suffix that was popular in the language mixed Indonesia also came the beginning from the suffix -in that was usual in Balinese grammar.
